The first regular season power rankings reveal the Grizzlies are getting mixed reviews.  Rankings are from 20th to 29th.

Of note is Sports Illustrated stats for the Grizzlies.

The good news is the Grizzlies rank at 8th offensively which is based on points per game.  The Grizzlies are at 107.0 ppg.

The bad news is (no terrible news) is that their defensive rank is 31st according to the SI Grizzlies web site. (Wait, aren't there only 30 teams?) This is based on points allowed per game and the Grizzlies are only worse than the Knicks by allowing 115.8 ppg.

The good news is they rank 1st in Rebounds per game at 47.5. 

The bad news is they are ranked 3rd in turn-overs per game at 18 only worse than Indiana and Golden State.

The good news is that the Grizzlies are 2nd in Rebounds allowed per game at 36.5 with only Portland better.

So, some signs that the Grizzlies have improved, but some major areas that need work.  Can a team win consistently without defense?  Nope!

I haven't found the power rankings for Hollinger of ESPN even using an ESPN insiders account.  If you see Hollinger's rankings send me a link please.

It seems to me the Clippers have a varied power ranking from 21st to 30th and the Lakers from 1st to 11th.
