I just received breaking news from the Memphis Commercial Appeal and Rotoworld. It is appeared the Memphis Grizzlies point guard Allen Iverson has left the team for personal reasons.

It was reported that Iverson met with Michael Heisley last night after the loss to the Lakers and this morning with him. Iverson then went off to Atlanta. Why Atlanta? The Commercial Appeal states that is where he lives in the offseason.

Iverson never did that much, only playing three games from the bench and going out with a hamstring injury. Iverson was expected to start tonight against the Clippers, according to ESPN and The Canadian Press.

No source claims that he'll return. Iverson recently reached the 24,000 point mark. Last year with the Pistons, he didn't do that well, saying that it was the worst year of his career.

Let's hope this season with the Grizzlies isn't either.

Iverson has averaged 12.3 points per game this year.

I like Allen Iverson. I really do. I totally respect his game, still think he has plenty left in the tank. Understand why he thinks he should be starting.

And I hope that whatever's happening in Atlanta is not something serious with a family member. If so, prayers are with them.

But his behavior after coming off the bench IN HIS FIRST GAME AFTER AN INJURY? Unacceptable. Not too bright. Maybe that's why no other team would sign him -- they knew he wouldn't just be patient, have the sense to shut up and be a good soldier. Or for Gods sake just WAIT a few more games to complain about coming off the bench.

But if this is how it's going to go down, better it happens now, early in the season. What would be even better is if we go on a 7-8 game winning streak.

I wish Allen luck. Hope we can trade him to a contending team if he doesn't want to do what Coach asks. Hope his story doesn't end this way. I'd love to see him get a ring. Seriously.

Man, this sucks.

Give the man some respect. Iverson is one of the greatest players to touch a ball. Now at 34, he is well past his prime. I feel that he can humble himself a bit more regarding his role, but I still feel he can still make a good impact if given the opportunity. If the attention hungry media, sports writers, and critics can get off his ass, he might come to accept his role. He clearly explained that he left the team for personal reasons, not because he felt like it. He may never win the ring, but many greats have not and will not, which could possibly be the same story for LeBron in the future.

He is a punk. Plain and simple. He is a self-important gangsta that was supposed to be in prison until he was 30. And basically everything he has said and done since proves he should have done his time. Regardless, the Memphis Grizzlies suck....always have, always will...with or without Punkverson. Who friggin' cares? Looks like 2 people so far.

Hi Billy Bob Bully. I'm a true Memphis Grizzly fan and I believe that the Grizzlies will do better this year than they have in the past few...with or without Allen Iverson. They got great players and I know they have certainly improved, just look at what they're scoring! Now Iverson can help the team but, whatever is going on in his personal life, I hope everything's ok.

Hey if you dont know the man personally, dont comment on what he should have been. Your one of the ones who only are commenting on what you read. So who is the punk?

I'll say that his quotes, especially the one about he and the coach "not talking to each other" have rubbed me the wrong way. But, as he has said, he is an emotional guy who tends to speak before he thinks.

That being said, I won't jump to any conclusions about his personal leave, even though I have to say that I am suspicious. I too wish him the best, and I would like to see him last a little longer with the team, and more importantly, be a part of the team as it begins to gel.

The noble type of man experiences itself as determining values; it does not need approval; it judges, 'what is harmful to me is harmful in itself'; it knows itself to be that which first accords honor to things; it is value-creating

I don't think anyone should be surprised by the whole thing really. I like AI and I know it must be hard for him to sit while Mike Conley plays in front of him; however, AI has never been about T-E-A-M. Never. It has always been about AI. The truth of the matter is; the guy has slowed down a lot. He is not the same AI that played in 2000 - 2001. Who is expected to be the same? Personally, I don't see no shame in coming off the bench because if I was in his shoes, it would be about minutes played. If you are playing minutes, who cares about starting? Ask Ginobili. Bottom line, the guy is supremely selfish and talks in circles. One minute he talks about team, being a leader for the youngsters and then the next; he talks about himself in a selfish manner. Well, I personally think if this does not workout, he is done in the NBA. He is the T.O. of the NBA. That is why T.O. is in Buffalo because nobody else wanted him. Thank God for him that he is keeping his mouth shut pretty much. Heisley blew this one bad and Hollins and Wallace are going to take the heat!
